Call for Abstracts - NOW CLOSED

The ASSCID 2017 Walkabout Conference promises to be another memorable bringing together of local, interstate and overseas specialists in special needs dentistry: dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists and oral health practitioners. The organising committee believes that we have gathered together a group of keynote and invited speakers that will be interesting, engaging and clinically insightful to conference attendees.

However, keynote and invited speakers only make up a small part of the conference – we all know that some of the best presentations at conferences are in the form of free papers!

These can vary from formal research projects, quality projects within organisations or practices, interesting case studies or use of new technologies to manage specific problems.

We are pleased to now invite submissions of abstracts for poster presentation at the ASSCID 2017 Walkabout Conference. Do not miss this prime opportunity to present your work to a large group of interested professionals in Brisbane in September!

We are inviting abstracts from undergraduate and postgraduate students – and are looking for a variety of themes and types of submissions.  If you have been thinking of telling the world about some of the work that you have been doing, this is a great opportunity!

Please note that abstract submission closed on 14 July 2017.

Selection of abstracts

Abstracts submitted will be reviewed by a review committee and advice of the selection of successful abstracts will be made by email on 11 August 2017.

Successful presenters will be required to register for the conference by 8 September 2017. If the presenting author is not registered by 8 September 2017, the abstract will be automatically removed from the program.

If you have any queries, please e-mail

The nine best abstract submissions (6 PG, 3 UG) will be short-listed for awards and will be required to give an oral presentation.

Awards will be categorised as follows:

Undergraduate (UG): an 8-minute presentation followed by 2 minutes question time.

Postgraduate (PG): a 10-minute presentation followed by 2 minutes question time
